Choose the Right Pallet for the Load

Most UK pallet networks work with standard 1200mm x 1000mm pallets, so using the correct size helps your freight move smoothly through hubs and onto delivery vehicles. Check the pallet is in sound condition before loading, with no broken boards or protruding nails, as a weak base is one of the most common causes of damage in transit.

If your goods are heavy, ask about weight limits when booking. Pallets are usually grouped into categories such as quarter, half, and full, each with its own maximum weight, and declaring this accurately helps us plan the right vehicle and avoid surcharges later.

Stack and Wrap Your Goods Securely

Place the heaviest items at the bottom and keep the load within the edges of the pallet, as overhang can lead to crushed corners and rejected consignments. A flat, even top also allows pallets to be stacked safely where required.

Wrap the load tightly with stretch film, taking it around the base of the pallet so the goods and pallet move as one unit. For fragile or high-value items, edge protectors and strapping add extra security on longer journeys.

Label Every Pallet Clearly

Clear labelling keeps your pallet on the right route from collection through to delivery. Attach labels to at least two sides showing the delivery address, contact details, and the number of pallets in the consignment, and remove any old labels that could cause confusion at the hub.
